🌸 He is easy to recognize by his flower and mirror.  
Vanity usually wears a flower on the right side of his hat and carries a hand mirror. He often gazes at his reflection, smiles at himself, and sometimes even kisses the mirror. 📚 He appeared in early Smurf history.

🪞 His mirror is more than a simple accessory.  
For Vanity, the mirror is almost like a best friend. He uses it to check his hat, admire his face, practice expressions, and make sure he still looks perfect before doing almost anything else.

While the other Smurfs are building, cooking, or repairing something, Vanity may suddenly announce how handsome he looks. This habit can annoy Hefty and the other villagers—but it also creates some of the funniest moments in Smurf stories.

🧠 Vanity connects to a real scientific idea.  
Psychologists study mirror self-recognition to learn how self-awareness develops. In the classic “mirror mark test,” a hidden mark is placed on a child’s face; researchers observe whether the child uses the mirror to find the mark on their own face. 🔬 But Vanity is not exactly taking a science test.  
Recognizing yourself in a mirror is different from admiring your hairstyle or believing you are the most beautiful person in the village. Vanity’s mirror habit is best understood as cartoon comedy, while real mirror research investigates self-awareness and how people understand their own bodies.

🎨 His flower has changed color over the years.  
In the comics, the flower has been shown as white. In the 1981 cartoon it is commonly pink, while other versions have used bright yellow or creamy yellow. 🧬 His “clone” is fantasy, not real biology.  
A lightning strike cannot bring a reflection to life or create a genetic copy of a person. The story borrows ideas that sound scientific—mirrors, doubles, electricity, and identity—but uses them as magical cartoon ingredients.

🎭 His double is also a clever mirror joke.  
At first, the new Smurf does the opposite of everything Vanity does. If Vanity raises one hand, the reflection raises the other. If Vanity speaks normally, the double speaks backward. It is a playful way to show how a mirror reverses left and right.
