🧙♂️ Gargamel is a (somewhat failed) wizard. He lives in a crumbling stone house deep in the forest, surrounded by potions, spellbooks, and strange ingredients. Though he’s not the most powerful sorcerer, he’s dangerously obsessed with the Smurfs.
🐱 He has a cat named Azrael. Azrael is Gargamel’s loyal companion—and just as grumpy. While Azrael often tries to help catch the Smurfs, he also tends to get caught up in his master’s misadventures.
🥣 Why does he want to catch Smurfs? In the original comics, Gargamel believed he could turn Smurfs into gold by using them in a magical formula. In other stories, he simply wants revenge or to eat them (though this is mostly played for laughs).
💫 He created Smurfette! That’s right—Smurfette was originally one of Gargamel’s evil plans to cause chaos in the Smurf Village. Luckily, Papa Smurf used his magic to transform her into a real Smurf with a kind heart.
📚 In the original French version, he’s called “Gargamel” as well. His name stayed the same across many translations—proof of just how unforgettable it is!
